ANN ARBOR, MICH. - Joseph Woll (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) made 32 saves, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team could not net a goal and were blanked here tonight, 1-0, by the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
Despite quality scoring chances both ways, neither team managed to find the back of the net through two periods.
Muskegon's Jack Rowe broke the scoreless tie 9:45 into the final frame to put the Lumberjacks in front for good. After working the puck around the offensive zone, Mason Jobst gathered a pass from the point and walked off the wall before firing a shot into traffic. Rowe grabbed the loose puck to the right of Woll and sent a shot just inside the right post for the game's only tally.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team is off until next Saturday (Sept. 20), when they travel to Orchard Lake, Michigan, to square off against the LaSalle Vipers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
